FES families participated in a night of Reading and Math challenges designed to help them "escape" from grade level rooms. The engaging and fun learning activities provided parents an opportunity for family-school interaction. Almost 300 parents and children attended the event.

As a culminating activity for a study on "author's craft in poetry", Mrs. Devine (amazing Title 1 tutor) read aloud her story, "Shoop the Sheep" to two 4th grade ELA classes during a "Poetry Picnic".  The students were so enthralled!  Mrs. Devine allowed the students to illustrate the way they visualized the poem/story and will use some of the students' illustrations in her book (when it is published).

How Generous "CAN" You Be?

December 15, 2017

The FES Student Council recently sponsored a canned food drive to benefit a local food bank and a family that recently lost their home to a fire in Freeport.  They wanted to see which holiday character could be the most generous.  Santa, Rudolph, Frosty, The Grinch, Jack Frost, and the Elves participated in the challenge.  Over 650 canned food items were collected.  The Student Council counted the items and found that the Elves were the most generous followed closely by Santa and The Grinch! The Student Council appreciates everyone for their generosity!

4th Grade "Book Tasting"

December 14, 2017

Students in Mrs. Curtis' ELA classes participated in a "Book Tasting"!  The kids rotated and "tasted" 6 of this year's Sunshine State Reader list of books by watching the book trailers and reading the synopsis of each title.  The kids LOVED it and are eager for their next "tasting"!
